The Rotary Clubs of Area 4, District 3450, proudly commenced the Rotary year 2026/27 with a meaningful and impactful initiative: the Area 4 Joint Club Blood Donation Day. Held on Wednesday, 1 July 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Mongkok Donor Centre of the Hong Kong Red Cross Blood Transfusion Service, this collaborative effort brought together all 10 clubs in Area 4 in alignment with Rotary International’s presidential theme, “Create Lasting Impact.”
A total of 66 registered donors participated in the drive, resulting in 40 successful donations and achieving a 61% success rate. These donations are estimated to support or save nearly 120 lives through life-saving blood transfusions coordinated by the Hong Kong Red Cross Blood Transfusion Service.
Each contribution reflects Rotary’s core value of “Service Above Self” and directly strengthens community health. This effort also upholds District 3450’s long-standing tradition of impactful blood donation initiatives, which earned the district the prestigious Elite Partnership Award in 2026.
The event was marked by the presence of distinguished district and area leaders, who joined participants for group photographs, symbolizing the unity and shared commitment of Area 4 clubs.
The seamless execution of the event was the result of meticulous planning and coordination, spearheaded by DDS Basil Kwan & PP Joey Yuen (Co-Chairs of the Blood Donation Service Sub-Committee), and President Douglas Lam. The organizers implemented a structured schedule with dedicated 15-minute timeslots, accommodating two donors per slot to ensure a smooth and efficient process for all participants.
District Governor CP Jimmy Lau, who joined the opening group photo, expressed his heartfelt gratitude in his opening remarks:

Today’s Area 4 Joint Club Blood Donation event, as the first service project of District 3450 in this new Rotary year, marks a great start in creating lasting impact. Every donor who stepped forward today not only helped save lives but also strengthened the bonds of Rotary fellowship across our clubs.
