Rotary Club of Lan Kwai Fong Treats Heart Link Children to Beautiful Hong Kong 2.0

Led by President Douglas Lam, the Rotary Club of Lan Kwai Fong partnered with S.K.H. St. Christopher’s Home on 1 September 2026 to give 20 children from the Heart Link programme a memorable evening at Hong Kong City Hall.

The children first had dinner at the Heart Link Centre in Sha Tin. They then travelled to Central for a group photo at City Hall at 7:30 p.m. before attending the 8:00 p.m. performance of Beautiful Hong Kong 2.0 in the Concert Hall.

Beautiful Hong Kong 2.0 is a cross-media production of original music, dance, calligraphy, and imagery that portrays Hong Kong’s landscapes, festivals, and cultural life. It is part of the Chinese Culture Festival 2026. The concert was organised by the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles Hong Kong Member Association, in association with the Chinese Musicians Association – Hong Kong Members Branch and Mui Kwong Chiu Production, and supported by the Department of Publicity, Cultural and Sports Affairs of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the HKSAR. Music, script, and direction were by Dr. Mui Kwong-chiu.

This project is another example of the strong collaboration between Rotary District 3450 and Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui. On 2 July 2026, District Governor CP Jimmy Lau and Mrs. Patricia Lau, Chief Executive Officer of the Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Welfare Council (HKSKHWC), signed a Memorandum of Understanding to jointly develop social service initiatives. These include family and youth programmes, support for the underprivileged, assistance for the elderly, and sustainability and humanitarian projects. By sharing resources and volunteer networks, the two organisations aim to expand community impact and bring care to those who need it most.

The concert outing built on the Club’s Digital Harmony Workshop held on 16 August 2026 for 20 parents from low-income families. The workshop focused on phone addiction and healthy digital habits. Members emphasised that music and the arts help children put down their phones, support whole-person development, and create positive shared experiences.

Together, the workshop and concert evening aim to create a lasting impact: giving children from low-income families cultural exposure, joyful memories, and an alternative to excessive screen time.

The Rotary Club of Lan Kwai Fong thanks S.K.H. St. Christopher’s Home, the artists and production team of Beautiful Hong Kong 2.0, and all members who supported this project.
